On December 7th an expert panel will decide who is to be crowned Esports Betting Operator of the Year. It’ll be one of the hotly contested categories in SBC Awards this year, and operators have until Monday October 31st to get their nominations in. rasmus

The award, which is being sponsored by supplier Sportradar, will be presented on the 7th at the Under The Bridge club in Chelsea FC’s home ground.

Regulated esports betting has seen a huge rise in both volume and operators offering markets in it in 2016 and as such SBC opted to include it amongst its igaming awards categories for the first time. Some operators such as Pinnacle have been offering it for some time, whilst specialist firm Unikrn has quickly made a name for itself in the space and secured investment from Tabcorp early on too.

The latter part of the year saw Betway make a significant sponsorship investment into team NiP, whilst Bet365, SkyBet and Danske Spil regularly offer a decent selection of markets. Other well known names including Paddy Power, Ladbrokes, Dafabet, Tipbet, NetBet and more also offer odds in the space.

SBC Founder Rasmus Sojmark said: “With the growth of esports markets this year we realised it had to be amongst the categories for our expanded awards in 2016. Our panel of judges will have their say on who’s been the best at offering wagering on esports so far, and it’ll be an early Christmas present for the winner.

“Many thanks to Sportradar for sponsoring; they’re one of the leading suppliers in the space and any bookmakers interested in adding esports should get in touch.”
