This saw the organisation enter its first roster outside of CS:GO and as the press release stated it “provides us (sic) with the chance to be represented in a refreshing, evolving game with an already well developed competitive scene”.

Written by VATIC Gaming’s Esports Manager Mark Cross, he also revealed: “Some of the players were already on our radar from when our search began several months ago, shortly before they became part of the TLR organisation, and while it has taken some time, we are delighted to have finally got the deal done.”

The team in full is listed below:

The Overwatch squad will be targeting UK Premiership qualification in ESL, and will be making their first appearance in purple jerseys at the next epic LAN event in February. It was also revealed that a VATIC online store, exclusively for the UK, would be coming later this month. VATIC Founder Matt Litherland commented: “We’ve been working hard on the possibility of opening a VATIC store over the last several months and we can finally confirm that we shall be opening later this month.”

Overwatch team member Alex ‘Gito’ Gittins said: “I am very excited to be representing VATIC as their UK Overwatch team, coming from the CSGO scene I have only heard good things about both Matt and Mark. We hope to qualify for the upcoming ESL UK Premiership season as well as showing our LAN capabilities at epic.TWENTY in February. We are all very glad and excited for the opportunity that VATIC have given us and we hope to show our skill in the coming months.”

Cross added: “We have been interested in branching off into Overwatch for some time now, and while my knowledge of the game doesn’t stretch much past ‘if you can hear an angry Japanese voice, RUN!’ I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into it and seeing VATIC represented in a new game.

“We’d been monitoring a previous incarnation of the lineup, and we’re pleased to finally be able to make the pickup. With a bit of hard graft over the coming months, I firmly believe the guys can build a strong platform to help them achieve their goals, and we hope to help them in any way we can to make it happen.”

Esports Insider says: More and more orgs are adding an Overwatch team to proceedings which can only be beneficial for the game’s wider scene. We’re looking forward to seeing what BlizzCon has planned for Overwatch fans.
