FACEIT’s esports initiative, the Esports Championship Series (ECS), will mix top teams and newcomers in the Season 3 Development League.

There’ll be top invited teams such as North, FlipSide and Gambit joining the European bracket, while the likes of Misfits and Renegades will face off in the North American bracket. The competition will kick off on February 28, wherein a total of 16 teams (eight from each region) will compete for a chance to earn passage into Season 3 through a final showdown against each region’s bottom two ranked teams from Season 2.

This season also sees the Community Caster Challenge make a return. This gives aspiring esports casting talent an opportunity to head to the studio and cast live matches of Season 3.

FACEIT will be hosting one caster during each match on their official Twitch channel. Casters looking to join the challenge can send the following information to [email protected] for consideration: first and last name, contact email, Skype link, Twitch channel URL, and other social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

The full list of teams in the third season of the ECS Development League from Europe are the following: North, Gambit, Team Kinguin, Flipsid3, PRIDE, Tengri, Rogue and Space Soldiers. From North America the invited teams are Misfits, Renegades, Winterfox and Selfless whilst those that qualified from this region are Premier Rejects, Bees Money Crew, Splyce and Denial Esports.

Esports Insider says: The third season of the ECS kicks off today with sixteen teams in contention. The action gets underway at 6pm GMT.
