This Sunday, the new Schalke 04 League of Legends team assembled under coach Michael “Veteran” Archer will make their Challenger Series debut.

To mark the occasion, Schalke introduced their new roster in a documentary which went live on Friday evening. Chris Gellner has been announced as the new team manager. The Split includes some tough opposition with PSG Esports, Fnatic Academy, Misfits Academy, Millenium and Team Kinguin also involved. It gets underway on Sunday night.

The ten minute video features Schalke board member Alexander Jobst and the Arena’s CEO, Moritz Beckers-Schwarz, who look back on Schalke’s foray into esports so far. They also shed some light into how the veteran club is supporting its fresh esports talent.

After a fairly rough first LCS season and the relegation setback, Schalke had some decisions to make. They doubled down and now boast massively improved training facilities and infrastructure in addition to an extended coaching staff.

Moritz Beckers-Schwarz, CEO FC Schalke 04 Arena Management GmbH commented: “Determination, hard work, and never giving up are the defining elements of Schalke. Hence our motto: more than ever!”

Esports Insider says: This is a hugely important season for Schalke to make their mark following the disappointments of last. With the investment that’s gone into the team there’s arguably more pressure than before to perform too. Viel Glück!
