It has been announced that the inaugural draft for the NBA 2K League will be held on Wednesday, April 4th at The Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden, New York. The Draft Lottery will be held on Tuesday, March 13th, determining the draft order of the 17 teams that are set to compete in the league.

The draft is made up of six rounds, with each team involved selecting six players – the order of these picks will reverse after each round. There are 102 players up for grabs in the draft, and they’ve all been selected by the league after a rigorous tryout.

The aforementioned lottery will be carried out with table tennis balls being selected in a random order from a ball machine (the same one that’s used for the NBA Draft Lottery). Each team will have a single table tennis ball with its logo printed on, therefore each has an equal chance of being drafted for the first pick.

Brendan Donohue, Managing Director, NBA 2K League said the following about the announcement: “The NBA 2K League Draft is going to be incredible as we watch dreams become reality for our players. We cannot wait to introduce the world to the first-ever NBA 2K League professionals and, most importantly, we are eager for our players to meet their teams and teammates for the first time. This will be a milestone moment for our league.”

Esports Insider says: It’s good to see the lottery method being used to select the order in which players are selected by teams – not only that, it’ll be interesting to see which players are picked first out of such a huge number of competitors. This, undoubtedly, means you should keep your eye on the first few who are picked when the NBA 2K League begins.
