Wolfsburg have added another professional FIFA player to its roster by signing up Timo ‘TimoX’ Siep, the current German champion. timoxwolfsburg

With the release of FIFA 17 globally today, and EA’s promise of a $1.3m (£998,000) prize pool for this year’s competitive scene, not to mention the bolstered and expanded FIFA INteractive World Cup announcements this week, Wolfsburg is going all in at the right time.

Siep will join new teammates David ‘DaveBTW’ Bytheway, the first British esports FIFA player to be signed by a club, and fellow German Benedikt ‘SaLz0r’ Salzter who was Wolfsburg’s first FIFA pro. 

Announcing the move on his Facebook Siep said: “I’m incredibly proud to announce I have joined VfL Wolfsburg! The move to the Wolves means a lot to me and I look forward to all the new challenges and opportunities.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the club for its trust in me and Stark Esports Agency, which made it all possible!”

Esports Insider says: So another esports signing by Wolfsburg, but still no moves outside of FIFA. The club is leading the way in terms of football clubs in the esports scene, and whilst it’s a fantastic time to snap up another FIFA player, it’d good to see them expand their horizons a little…
