Betway has announced the launch of Betway Arena, a multi-event series of esports competitions that begins with King of the Hill, a five-event series of Dota 2 matches in a weekly ‘winner stays on’ format.

The opening match will be hosted by the Moonduck Studios and streamed on Moonduck’s Twitch channel, sees Evil Geniuses take on CompLexity Gaming on March 3rd.

Betway’s Anthony Werkman, commented: “We’re excited to introduce the Betway Arena to eSports fans, which begins with an all new format of world-class Dota 2 action running for five consecutive weeks.

“I’m confident that the King of the Hill series will be a fantastic event and the first match between Evil Geniuses and CompLexity Gaming is a mouth-watering prospect. Esports continues to grow beyond our own lofty expectations by featuring regularly in our daily top 10 sports for turnover, and the Betway Arena will give fans can’t miss events on the esports calendar for many months to come.”

There is a $5,000 (£4,020) prize pool for this competition and the other teams involved will be announced in the near future.

Betway is already very much involved with the esports scene and sponsors Sweden’s Ninjas in Pyjamas, this deal is believed to be the largest from a bookmaker in the space so far. There will of course be numerous markets available on Betway for these ‘Best of Five’ Dota matches.

Esports Insider says: Betway has secured two sizable orgs to kick off its first Betway Arena clash, and with an exciting format and clearly more to come across titles we’re looking forward to this playing out.
