DreamHack, famous for its enormous digital festival held biannually in Sweden, has signed a two-year strategic partnership with Corsair, who have become a title sponsor for DreamHack’s esports properties.

As a result, DreamHack’s showpiece events will take on the moniker of the computer peripherals producer. The company’s leagues will now be known as the ‘CORSAIR DreamHack Masters’ and the ‘CORSAIR DreamLeague’.

The move, announced on Wednesday, is an evolution of a partnership which began earlier this year. Corsair featured as a major sponsor of the year-long DreamHack Open 2017, filling the role of the circuit’s official provider of mice and keyboards. The California-based company has expanded that relationship to take a leading role in DreamHack’s sponsorship partners through to the end of 2019. Corsair’s Senior Gaming Marketing Manager, Lauren Premo, explained that choosing to upgrade their collaboration was “natural”.

“Corsair is committed to growing esports and PC gaming around the world, and expanding our partnership with DreamHack, the biggest digital festival in the world, was the natural choice,” said Lauren. “Corsair has always strived to make products that PC enthusiasts and gamers deserve … DreamHack will help us to continue and strengthen that tradition.”

It is far from Corsair’s first foray into esports, and in August the company also attached its brand to the ROX Tigers. The South Korean League of Legends team were world finalists in 2015, and made the top four the following year.

DreamHack can be confident that their title sponsorship deal adds one of the largest endemic brands in the scene to an already impressive partnership portfolio. Recent moves also saw the Swedish giants partner with the City of Stockholm as the nation’s capital was added to list of host cities for the CORSAIR DreamHack Masters going forwards.

“We are tremendously excited to continue to ramp up our efforts within the esports industry thanks to CORSAIR,” said Marcus Lindmark, DreamHack’s CEO & President, who described the company’s 2017 as a “huge” year.

“With CORSAIR’s support we can continue to level up what we’re doing for 2018 and bring the most exciting shows and events for the esports and gaming audience.”

Esports Insider says: Securing a title sponsorship with DreamHack must have required some heavy investment from Corsair, but there’s few better places to get a computer peripherals brand displayed than with the Swedish esports giants. Another huge deal at the end of 2017 ensures that the year has surely been the industry’s biggest yet.
