Fnatic’s Bunkr and global HQ is but a short journey across London from the Gfinity arena

Gfinity has today announced that its Elite Series will have a big new member in the form of city neighbours Fnatic for its third season.

The London based org, which has been around since 2004, will join the next Gfinity Elite Series for its upcoming season which gets underway on March 2nd.

It has also been announced that Tthe Elite Series will be expanded to ten teams for the new season. Season two saw eight take part, and Fnatic are the first to be confirmed as part of this expansion. There was another major bit of news where the Elite Series is concerned recently too after it was announced that FIFA 18 will be one of the new competitive titles. It’ll join Rocket League and Street Fighter V with teams competing for a prize pool in excess of £250,000.

There is already a Rocket League team playing under the Fnatic banner, and via a much publicised partnership with AS Roma the team has FIFA players too. By confirming they’ll be a part of Gfinity’s competition this also means that Fnatic will be returning to the world of fighting games.

Patrik Sattermon, CGO and Co-Owner, FNATIC said: “We have followed the Elite Series closely for some time and have been thoroughly impressed, in terms of the tournament but also in both the professionalism and vision of Gfinity’s team.

“The new opportunities for our existing FIFA and Rocket League rosters are very exciting and a return to the fighting game scene with Street Fighter V is something we very much look forward to.”

Neville Upton, CEO of Gfinity stated: “Having established the Elite Series as one of the leading esports tournaments in the world, we couldn’t be more excited by expanding and bringing in a team of FNATIC’s calibre.

“With their inclusion, an already competitive roster and more announcements to come, this will be our most action-packed season to date.”

Esports Insider says: Make no mistake this is huge new for Gfinity to have Fnatic as a part of the next Elite Series season. We’ll be keeping our ears to the ground for rumours of who will take the final tenth slot. Nice to see Fnatic back in the FGC too!
