A report from HLTV claims that the owners of Swedish esports organisation GODSENT are looking to sell their shares. Only created in 2016, the esports company is partly run by those involved in Danish company RFRESH – an esports marketing and media rights company that works with both established organisations and player-owned teams such as Astralis and Heroic.
GODSENT is an organisation that competes in Counter-Strike Global Offensive which began when player Markus “pronax” Wallsten and his teammates at the time – Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson, Simon “twist” Eliasson, Andreas “znajder” Lindberg, and Mathias “paug” Köhler – decided to start a team that they had some control over.
Somewhat controversially, RFRSH having ties to GODSENT, Astralis, and Heroic resulted in all three teams falling under the WESA’s newly-appointed multi-ownership rule. The WESA sanctions competitions such as those delivered by ESL One and IEM, and teams whom break its rules are not allowed to participate.
There has been no official word from the owners as to the reasoning for their desire to sell GODSENT, but the mishap with WESA could well be a contributing factor. The report states that all of the shareholders are looking to rid of their respective stake in the organisation, which would allow somebody new to come in and take full control of future proceedings. It’s also worth nothing that the team’s roster, including the benched Dennis “dennis” Edman, would be included in the deal – which could well be a motivation for any potential buyers.
The current roster is as follows: Simon “twist” Eliasson, Joakim “disco doplan” Gidetun, Fredrik “freddieb” Buö, Hampus “hampus” Poser, Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin, and Niko “naSu” Kovanen.
