Ninjas in Pyjamas enter Rainbow Six Siege, Latin American market

Swedish esports organisation Ninjas in Pyjamas, often acronymed as NiP, has entered both the Rainbow Six Siege and the Latin American scene in one fell swoop.

Recognising the growth of the popular tactical shooter game, Ninjas in Pyjamas has acquired both the roster and coach from Black Dragons e-Sports, a team that has multiple tournament wins and top three finishes.

Ninja in Pyjamas’ Rainbow Six Siege roster is as follows:

  • João “Kamikaze” Gomes
  • Gustavo “Psycho” Rigal
  • Pedro “Pzd” Dutra
  • Julio “Julio” Giacomell
  • Wagner “Wag” Alfaro
  • Marlon “Twister” Mello (Coach)
  • Andre “Absurdo” Cardoso (Manager)

The team will be stationed in São Paulo, Brazil and, unsurprisingly, will continue to compete in the LATAM Rainbow Six League.

Hicham Chahine, CEO of Ninjas in Pyjamas stated: “We are thrilled to finally being able to announce our venture into Rainbow Six. We have tried our best to keep it to ourselves for over a month, but with such an engaging game with an extremely passionate community, it is hard to hide our excitement! We are entering this rapidly growing title with the ambition of sharing some truly amazing moments with our fans and the entire community. OLÁ BRASIL!”

This announcement comes just a week after Immortals made the same move: picking up a Latin American team that competes in Rainbow Six Siege and joining Ubisoft‘s revenue sharing pilot.

The aforementioned pilot sees the developer behind Rainbow Six Siege working with eleven teams that compete across four regional divisions – Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific – to provide them with additional revenue based on in-game branded items.

Prior to entering Rainbow Six Siege, Ninjas in Pyjamas housed teams in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Paladins, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The organisation is partnered with Nighthawk Pro Gaming, DXRacer, Republic of Gamers, Xtrfy, Betway, FACEIT, NOCCO, and Twitch.

Esports Insider says: This announcement has been impending for quite a while now, so it’s good to see NiP announce such a strong roster alongside playing a part in Ubisoft’s revenue share program. Entering the LATAM scene is a great move as it’s poised to grow and has plenty of talent.
