This week in esports, as always, has been busy to say the least – with DreamHack expanding into two new countries and a well-known Dota 2 player becoming the new face of Head & Shoulders.

DreamHack, Rotterdam Ahoy enter long-term partnership

DreamHack Rotterdam Ahoy

DreamHack has entered two new countries in as many days, and the first announced was the Netherlands. As part of a new partnership with Rotterdam Ahoy, DreamHack Rotterham will take place in October 2019.

The event will be part of the Rotterdam Games Week and includes a $100,000 (£76,090.50) DreamHack Open Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament, as well as a gaming expo, cosplay competitions, panel meetings, and a LAN party.

DreamHack enters India with NODWIN Gaming, Viacom18

DreamHack Mumbai

DreamHack also announced its intentions to enter India by forging new partnerships with both NODWIN Gaming and Viacom18.

DreamHack Mumbai has been revealed, taking place over December 21st-23rd with a LAN party, unannounced tournaments, and a mobile cricket event.

Real Madrid’s updated Bernabéu Stadium will have an esports facility

Real Madrid may not have confirmed any plans to enter esports as of yet, but it’s been revealed that the renovated Santiago Bernabéu Stadium will include a facility that allows for gaming competitions.

The revelation came from a video that offered a look at what the popular football club had in store in regards to the stadium’s upgrade. A couple of potential hints were thrown towards both League of Legends and FIFA, but nothing has been announced as of writing.

Introducing the Esports Insider Hall of Fame 2018 inductees

To conclude the biggest esports business conference of the year, ESI London, Esports Insider hosted its inaugural Hall of Fame ceremony.

Aiming to recognise and award notable figures for shaping and contributing to the esports industry over a number of years, we inducted Michael ‘CARMAC’ Blicharz, Jason Lake, and Chris Puckett at the Natural History Museum.

RAMZES666 Head & Shoulders

Virtus.pro Dota 2 player Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev is the star of a Head & Shoulders commercial in Russia after being a brand ambassador for the shampoo brand.

Details of this deal are undisclosed. So far in his career, RAMZES666 has won four Major events: ESL One Hamburg 2017, ESL One Katowice 2018, The Bucharest Major, and ESL One Birmingham 2018.
