French football club FC Nantes has been announced as the sixth and final founding member of eFootball.Pro.

FC Nantes joins five other members in the PES league: Barcelona, Schalke 04, AS Monaco, Celtic FC, and Boavista FC.

Franck Kita, CEO of FC Nantes discussed the venture: “FC Nantes, by embarking on PES and participating in this competition, continues its expansion in eSports. We are delighted to compete against such prestigious clubs and to be at the forefront of eFootball.Pro. Already present on several games, this confirms the will of the club to position itself as an important player in this sector and share this passion with our fans.”

This isn’t FC Nantes’ first effort in the esports industry, already fielding competitors in FIFA and Rocket League. eFootball.Pro is a PES league, but Nantes had already expanded into the game on November 7th.

Masami Saso, President of Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. added: “It is a great pleasure to be welcoming another prestigious club to this new and exciting competition. We look forward to working with FC Nantes to continue to drive eSports forward. Now that we have completed the line-up for this season, we at KONAMI are looking forward to a fantastic competition.”

The unveiling of the competition will take place on November 25th, including the presentation of the format of the league and the players that will represent each of the six teams. The first official match day will follow on December 2nd.

Gerard Piqué, Founder and President of eFootball.Pro also had his say: “We are delighted to complete the eFootball.Pro League’s first edition with Nantes. It is a historic club, a reference in the French league. We hope that they will be as tenacious in eSports as they have been throughout their history in football.”

Esports Insider says: The first six teams for the inaugural season of the competition have now been established and announced, meaning the will likely start to really advertise it on the lead up to the first match in December. eFootball.Pro is quite unique to esports so it will be interesting to see how it’s received and how it performs.
