Trelleborg Wheel Systems has entered the esports industry by agreeing to field a team in GIANTS Software’s Farming Simulator League.

Trelleborg Wheel Systems is no stranger to the gaming series that is Farming Simulator, having first established a partnership with GIANTS Software in 2014. Since then, it has had its own branded equipment available for use in-game.

American agricultural chemical and seed company Corteva Agriscience was announced as the main sponsor of the Farming Simulator League earlier this week. Other sponsors of the competition include Logitech G, Intel, DLG, Nitrado, and noblechairs.

Trelleborg Wheel Systems has joined fellow farming and agriculture companies Grimme, AMAZONE, John Deere, Horsch, Lindner Traktoren, and Krone as a sponsor of a team ahead of the league’s inaugural season. Esports organisation mYinsanity and game publisher Astragon Entertainment will also field a roster.

Farming Simulator League will kick off later this month with an event at FarmCon 19 on the 27-28th. The season will consist of 10 LAN events in Europe and four offline events, with a total of €250,000 (£224,315) being distributed as winnings.

Esports Insider says: We fully believe there’s potential in this league and that it’s gearing itself up to bring a new wave of esports fans with it. Locking in a host of major agriculture companies could well encourage people to tune in once the league gets underway so we’ll be keeping a close eye on viewership and engagement starting with FarmCon.
