ESL UK has welcomed Mercedes-Benz as a sponsor to support the addition of Dota 2 to the ESL Premiership.

Up until now, the seasonal competition has supported both Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Rainbow Six Siege.

James Dean, Managing Director of ESL UK discussed the sponsorship in a release: “The partnership between Mercedes-Benz and ESL has already proved to be hugely successful and has resulted in two incredible ESL One Birmingham tournaments for Dota2 in 2018 and 2019. Having Mercedes-Benz involved with the national tournament will see that same success replicated within the ESL Premiership. It also means a more varied offering for players and fans with even more communities involved.”

ESL added Mercedes-Benz as its global mobility partner in October last year, extending the original deal until December 31st 2020. The automobile giant joins Intel and Currys PC World as sponsors of the ESL Premiership.

The ESL Premiership Dota 2 Skirmish will run alongside the ESL Premiership, allowing amateur and semi-professional players from the United Kingdom and Ireland to prove themselves. An online tournament will run for four weeks, with the top two players in each role making it to the ESL Premiership finals in Manchester on November 24th.

Esports Insider says: Mercedes-Benz has done a good job at expanding its footprint in esports over the past year with big initiatives and deals, but it’s good to see it support competitions that are aimed at budding professionals. It’s nice to ESL UK expand the offering of the Premiership to cover Dota 2, especially after the success of ESL One Birmingham in both 2018 and 2019.
