Toronto Ultra confirmed for Call of Duty League

Toronto Ultra is the latest brand to be announced for the upcoming franchised Call of Duty League.

Owned by OverActive Media, the official name logo, and colours of the franchise have been unveiled.

As explained in Esports Insider’s interview with Chris Overholt, CEO of OverActive Media, the Toronto Ultra logo features a squirrel as “in the West End of the [Toronto], there’s a beautiful park right in the middle of the city called Trinity-Bellwoods. It has, over the years, been home to a family of albino squirrels.”

Utilising the capability to have 10 players on a roster, Toronto Ultra has signed Danny “Loony” Loza, Anthony “Methodz” Zinni, Carson “Brack” Newberry, Alex “Lucky” López, Adrian “MettalZ” Serrano, Tobi “CleanX” Jønsson, Nick “Classic” DiCostanzo, Cammy “Cammy” McKilligan, Ben “Bance” Bance, and Mehran “Mayhem” Anjomshoa.

Franchises that have been confirmed at the time of writing include London Royal RavensDallas EmpireLos Angeles GuerrillasNew York Subliners, and OpTic Gaming Los Angeles.

Franchises yet to be revealed are as follows: Atlanta Esports Ventures’ Atlanta, NRG Esports’ Chicago, Misfits Gaming’s Florida, WISE Ventures’ Minnesota, c0ntact Gaming’s Paris, and Enthusiast Gaming’s Seattle.

Esports Insider says: Toronto Ultra is taking a less-serious approach to its branding, something Call of Duty esports isn’t too used to – it’s traditional been a rather serious affair. We expect to it have a fierce fan base considering it’s the sole Canada-based franchise for the inaugural season.
