Logitech G extends partnership with McLaren through 2020

Gaming peripherals brand Logitech G has extended its partnership with UK-based car manufacturer McLaren to last through 2020.

Logitech G is one of the longest-standing partners of McLaren’s esports initiatives, supporting the World’s Fastest Gamer and McLaren Shadow competitions over the years.

Together, McLaren and Logitech G will continue to work in the realm of sim racing. A notable project that’ll come from the extension is a new racing tournament known as G Challenge 2020.

Mark Waller, Managing Director of Sales & Marketing at McLaren Racing, discussed the extension in a release: “Logitech G has supported McLaren’s eSports endeavours from the start, and I’m pleased to extend this partnership across the Group. Logitech G is unique in their process and the way they collaborate with their partners to create the best experience and high-quality products for gamers. We are excited to bring a new G Challenge to gamers and open a new gateway into the world of racing.”

McLaren is no stranger to sim racing, having hosted its Shadow Project and the Logitech G Challenge in 2018 and 2019, reportedly generating over one million competitors across both tournaments. It also competes in the F1 Esports Series.

Vincent Borel, General Manager of Gaming Simulation at Logitech G, also spoke on the continued partnership: “McLaren is a pioneer in the automotive space and hyper-competitive world of Formula 1. We are thrilled to continue our partnership and broaden our commitment to a shared vision that elevates eRacing within the world of gaming and beyond. Together with McLaren, we will create a thrilling eRacing experience that will ignite the passion and racing spirit in all of us.”

Esports Insider says: Given its history with McLaren, it’s hardly a surprise that Logitech G has renewed the partnership for 2020. With sim racing having more eyeballs on it than ever in recent weeks due to COVID-19, this is a smart decision for the peripherals brand.
