Select players under the Method banner will also stream live to a Chinese audience on the platform, though no further details have been disclosed at the time of writing. The length of the partnership was not specified in the announcement.

Sascha Steffens, Co-CEO of Method, discussed the partnership: “Working together with DouYu has been an important step in Method’s mission to establish the Race to World First as a global esports event. We are excited to take our collaboration with DouYu to the next level. This partnership will give Chinese viewers the ability to directly engage with Method’s players.”

Method has established itself as a major player in World of Warcraft, hosting its Race to World First series in an effort to be the first team to successfully complete newly-introduced raids. The organisation was well-known for working alongside Red Bull for such events but established an alliance with TaKeTV in July last year.

DouYu has been increasing its presence in Western esports over the past couple of years, most notably raising $775 million (£700 million) after its first day of trading on the Nasdaq. The company is backed by Chinese conglomerate Tencent.

Esports Insider says: With Race to World First being such a popular event each and every time, it’s no surprise to see Method want to keep the momentum going and for DouYu to want to deliver the action to its audience.
