Kim will distribute SUSIE Coin to her ‘most loyal fans’. At launch, the currency can be applied towards private Discord chats and special social recognition for top holders.

Kim commented on the collaboration in a release, saying: “Rally empowers creators, gamers and personalities like myself to re-imagine community management as an opportunity to tap into an entirely new revenue model by simply interacting with our fans. I am excited to experiment with my own token, while also spreading the word to the esports community.”

Rally.io is a blockchain startup headed by gaming entrepreneur and Gen.G Esports Founder Kevin Chou, who will be appearing on the ‘Esports teams, revenue generation and diversification’ panel at ESI Digital Winter later today. The platform allows creators, celebrities, and organisations to create their own cryptocurrency for interacting with audiences.

The platform currently features nearly 30 gamers, creators, celebrities and crypto influencers including footballer  Keisuke Honda, gamer FanHOTS, Twitch streamer Alliestrasza and more. Rally is funded by a mix of VC’s including Andreesen Horowitz, Canaan, Battery Ventures, and Green Bay Ventures.

As an advisor, Kim will help introduce Rally and social tokens more broadly to esports and gaming communities. She brings a wealth of personal and professional experience to the fan engagement space, having served as general manager of the London Spitfire, helped develop Cloud9’s Training Grounds, and joined the University of California Irvine’s Esports Leadership Board. In addition, she helped Twitch to build out its Korean presence.

Esports Insider says: Esports is prime real estate for custom currency. Gamers are already used to purchasing credits on gaming platforms and inside games, as well as on streaming platforms. Gamers also tend to be early adopters of new technology. As Gen.G launches its own “GG Strike Coin” this year, it will be interesting to see if fans naturally adopt the idea.
