Hong Kong-based organisation Talon Esports has announced a partnership with KFC Thailand for its Arena of Valor team, dtac Talon.

KFC’s logo will be prominently displayed on the front of dtac Talon’s player jerseys, as the team defends its championship title in the ROV Pro League for the 2021 season. The partnership will also include content creation and fan experiences, according to the press release.

KFC is one of several partners Talon Esports has secured in recent months. Earlier this week, Thailand-based telecom operator dtac became the main partner of the Talon ROV team in 2021. As a result, the organisation’s Arena of Valor side will play under the name dtac Talon.

In October last year,  the organisation also completed a successful $2 million (£1.52 million) seed fund round.

Sean Zhang, CEO of Talon Esports, commented on the latest partnership in a release: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome KFC as an official partner of dtac Talon. To have one of the world’s most recognisable brands join us is another strong indicator of the direction we are going in as an organisation.

“Our team and fans already know and love KFC, so this partnership will be really about combining and serving two of the biggest passion points of our fans – food and gaming – in the most convenient and exciting way possible.”

Sakechai Choomuenwai, Vice President of KFC Thailand, Yum Restaurant International Co., Ltd, added: “Our partnership with dtac Talon, a leading esports team, is an affirmation to those who are determined to pursue their passion that KFC is ready to be one’s life fuel to success, especially within the gaming industry.

“We hope that KFC customers and dtac Talon fans will enjoy the new, exciting experiences, content and activities from our collaboration throughout the year.”

Talon Esports recently partnered with digital licensing provider ESPAT and sponsor analytics platform Cavea. The organisation’s other partnerships include Twitch, Carnival sneaker stores, Noblechairs, and gaming eye peripheral brand ViewGear.

Esports Insider says: KFC has made a lot of waves in recent years for its clever marketing campaigns, however, its esports involvement has been rather sporadic. The deal does highlight KFC’s willingness to expand its esports portfolio and so it’ll be interesting to see what content and activations come from this new partnership with Talon.
