Organised by WWF, Earth Hour is a global effort occurring on March 27th that encourages people around the world to switch off their electronics in support of nature and the planet.

The global fundraising campaign will see both entities collaborate to produce a livestream event series to raise funds and drive awareness for WWF’s wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability programmes. The virtual streaming series will run between March 13th-28th.

WWF-Australia Livestream Fundraising Coordinator Lucy Chen commented on the partnership in a release: “With the support of WWF-International, six WWF country offices have worked together to mobilise the streaming community for this event, to move beyond symbolic actions for Earth Hour, and commit to making an impact through the best way they can – charity streams.

“We’re here to remind everyone that we are all connected, not just to each other, but to nature. And together, we can put nature back on the global agenda and change the ending. Whether it’s by hosting your own WWF charity stream, donating to another creator’s campaign, or spreading the word on social media – everything counts. Because alone, we may feel small. But together, anything is possible.”

According to a release, over 100 players from the Philippines will join in on the effort, including Ninjas in Pyjamas who will contribute by streaming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, VALORANT, FIFA, Rainbow Six Siege, and more.

Vincent Lutz, Ninjas in Pyjamas Head of Community & Growth, added: “One of the biggest challenges of this generation is the environment. It’s of utmost importance that we stand together to face it, and WWF-PH is doing a tremendous job raising awareness through initiatives such as Earth Hour.

“We’re proud to team up with an organisation serving as many great causes as WWF. Significant for the gaming community is our ability to come together to make a difference. We’ve proved it many times, and this is no different. Gaming offers so many platforms for our community to raise awareness, and it’s exactly what we’re going to do.”

Esports Insider says: The news of Ninjas in Pyjamas’ partnership with WWF arrives just a few weeks after the Philippines branch entered a deal with the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines to similarly drive awareness to its conservation mission. This is about as wholesome of a partnership as it gets and we’re couldn’t be more supportive of this activation’s ambition to raise funds for WWF’s efforts.
