Kyler ‘FaZe K1’ Murray spoke on the announcement: “I’ve played video games my whole life. To be drafted by FaZe and welcomed into the family is a blessing and an honour, and honestly one of the most exciting moments of my life and career so far. I am looking forward to this next chapter and representing FaZe at the highest level.”

In celebration of Murray joining, FaZe Clan will release an official FaZe K1 merchandise capsule that features a limited-edition t-shirt and hoodie. The collection will be available to purchase on FaZe Clan’s website from April 29th and will retail between $40 – $90.

Richard Bengston, Founder of FaZe Clan, also commented: “We’re so stoked to officially welcome Kyler to the FaZe family. Aside from being one of the best quarterbacks out there, he is embedded in the gaming community racking up hours upon hours playing and streaming.

“The friendship with Kyler, myself, and all the FaZe members is natural and organic. He’s a perfect fit for FaZe as we continue to lead the cultural collision of traditional sports and gaming.”

The announcement coincides with the 2021 NFL Draft and this year’s Draft-A-Thon, NFL’s virtual fundraiser in support of COVID-19 relief efforts.

This isn’t the first time FaZe Clan signed a partner from traditional sports space. Last year, the organisation launched collaborations with the NFL and NHL and signed prominent NBA players LeBron James Jr. and Ben Simmons, with the latter also an investor in FaZe.

Esports Insider says: This is yet another solid move by FaZe Clan. Signing superstars from traditional sports is almost a certain way how to expand its influence and grow its community. Furthermore, getting them to invest in the organisation only sweetens the deal.
