Global Esports Federation strikes partnership with Flare Networks

The Global Esports Federation (GEF) has announced a partnership with blockchain network Flare Networks.

The agreement will see Flare Networks become GEF’s official global partner for Blockchain Ecosystems.

According to a release, the partnership will see both entities help establish a pathway for engaging blockchain technologies with esports communities around the world.

Adrian F. Lismore, GEF Board Member and Chair of its Finance, Legal and Administration Commission, commented on the collaboration: “Our global community has asked us to lead the way and provide the guidance, framework, and integrity measures appropriate to enhance their trust.

“This global partnership with Flare Networks will help the GEF, our Members, and Partners, light the way for our community to engage with blockchain.”

GEF is an industry body that looks to promote the credibility and legitimacy of esports internationally. 

Flare Networks is a decentralised blockchain network that utilizes the XRP Ledger, and claims to be the world’s first Turing-complete Federated Byzantine Agreement (FBA) network.

In a release, the GEF said its partnership with Flare Networks will help continue harnessing the ‘limitless potential’ of new technologies for the body. The GEF also cited that this could result in a ‘radically different’ competitive future for esports and entertainment.

Esports Insider: There has been much speculation about the potential applications for blockchain in esports. With a plethora of partnerships emerging over the past year between blockchain startups and esports organisations, it will be interesting to watch as the fruits of tech-savvy collaborations like this one unfold.
