ESL One event announced as part of IEM Katowice

ESL One is returning in 2019 to the Spodek Arena as part of the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Katowice, ESL announced through a press release.

Katowice, Poland is getting ready for two weeks of fierce competition in 2019. IEM Katowice will reunite the best Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 teams in the world to compete in ESL One and the IEM Katowice 2019 CS: GO Major.

Twelve teams are competing at ESL One for the title and part of the $300,000 (£230,000) prize pool. Eight teams are receiving direct invitations to the group stage, the remaining four are coming from the regional qualifiers in Europe, North America, China, and Southeast Asia. The qualifiers start in November, and the main event is taking place from February 22 to 24.

Ulrich Schulze, Senior Vice President of Product at ESL said: “We are excited to bring ESL One back to the legendary Spodek Arena in Katowice as part of another double weekend full of esports and the best action. Our events in Katowice are like no other thanks to the passion of the fans who travel to Poland from all over Europe and the impressive atmosphere that breathes in the sand.”

To make the weekend even more exciting, ESL is bringing the fifth edition of the IEM Expo to the International Congress Centre in Katowice from February 22 to 24, and March 1 to 3. Visitors from all over Europe can enjoy de 8,000 square meters full of esports, meets and greets tournaments, and more. At the event, the Intel Showcase is introducing the ninth generation of processors Intel Core i7 and Intel Core i9.

In the meanwhile, all eyes are in the upcoming ESL One Hamburg 2018 to take place from October 26 to 28 at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
