Team Liquid hires John Patterson as Chief Financial Officer

Netherlands-based organisation Team Liquid has announced John Patterson as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

In the position, Patterson will work to improve Team Liquid’s revenue structure as the team continues to grow within the industry. He joins the organisation with 15 years of experience in digital media, though this is his first venture into esports.

Speaking on the Team Liquid website, Patterson discussed transitioning to esports: “I feel good about it. I’ve been a casual observer of the esports industry from a distance. My brother is a huge League of Legends fan. He introduced me to this world, back when Team SoloMid was having their run a few years ago. The esports industry sort of fascinated me. It’s something that’s right on the cusp of being really huge. So I’m excited to be a part of the industry and part of this team, right when it’s hitting that tipping point.”

John went on to stress that a key area of improvement with Team Liquid was changing the organisation’s reliance on outside investment, instead focusing on making it self-sufficient in the next couple of years.

Team Liquid has been making noise both in and out of the server as of late, partnering with the likes of Marvel Entertainment and winning the Intel Grand Slam in no time at all.

Esports Insider says: A key part of Patterson’s discussion upon joining Team Liquid was about making the organisation self-sufficient. Long-term survivability – without investment – is a fundamental part of esports’ future so making a move such as this should be a great thing for the organisation.
